Hydrangea macrophylla Centennial Ruby™

The reddest of reds

This plant was chosen as THE plant to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of one of the most successful nurseries in North America. We are honored to have one of our plants chosen to represent such an important milestone for Monrovia.

Centennial Ruby comes to us from the brilliant breeding of the HOKO team in the Netherlands and is, quite honestly, a quintessential red. It is the darkest red on the market and possibly the sturdiest, most compact, and floriferous red-flowered mophead hydrangea introduced.

The flowers emerge hard and cherry-red and mature into tough, red balls in the waxiest, reddest shade we've ever seen. The plants branch exceptionally well and form hard, long-lasting flowers that remain on the plants for months and months. The compact plant has sturdy stems and super-thick, deep-green leaves that are resistant to drought and disease.

Centennial Ruby should now be the standard red among reds and revered for the beautiful specimen it makes in containers and in garden beds.
