One New Plant At A Time.

New Plant Introduction & Marketing

We don't sell plants. We help other people sell our plants.

Think of us as Breeder’s Agents, just like the people who work with artists and musicians. Plant breeders need agents too. We help bring their plants to market by navigating the introduction process, helping them to protect their invention with patents and trademarks, marketing the product for them and making sure the people who sell the products pay a royalty for every product they sell. The breeders and Plants Nouveau then use the royalty income to make and introduce even more new plants.

Why Choose Plants Nouveau?

New Plants

At Plants Nouveau, we think of ourselves as architects for better gardens, better minds, and a better world. We introduce fantastic NEW plants from around the world that help people get out and play in their gardens, on their porches, balconies, and even on their windowsills. Our plants are bred to make gardening more colorful, less complicated, and more enjoyable.

New Markets

We find the plants. We bring the plants to our growers. We do extensive trials and evaluations all over the world. We patent the plant to protect the inventor – just like any other invention. We develop creative, on-trend marketing materials. Plants are sold by our licensed growers. We engage consumers through outreach and social media channels to create demand for the growers.

New Solutions

It’s our job to select and market the new plants to the growers we license. We leave the selling to those who do it best.  We will do our best to help you find a source for our plants because our goal is for every gardener and designer to have access to and benefit from the hard work we do to select plants that are just right for today’s consumers.

Wrapping Beauty Around the World One Plant New at a Time

Plants Nouveau’s creative and intellectual resources give world-wide recognition to great new plants that solve the needs of today’s consumer. Each new plant is evaluated in multiple, trusted sites to ensure success.  Once deemed worthy, our plants are grown by premier growers around the globe.

How Did We Get Here

Plants Nouveau was founded in the fall of 2005. Angela Treadwell- Palmer had been working in new plant introduction and royalty administration for most of her career. When her husband needed to relocate to the east coast for his job, she was forced to give up her job managing the Chicagoland Grows Plant Introduction program. She kept busy being the perennial buyer and manager for one of the country’s premier mid Atlantic garden centers, Homestead Gardens. She also served a three-year stint at the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, DC, where she managed half of the collections and curators.

Angela loved new plant introduction, so in her spare time, she worked with some breeders and industry friends to start Plants Nouveau. After three years, she needed to put all of her time into Plants Nouveau, so she left the USNA to build the company.

Linda Guy joined her as a partner in 2011, bringing many new breeders with woody and tropical plants, expanding Plants Nouveau’s offerings and reach.

Since then, Angela & Linda have worked tirelessly to choose the best plants for each market, represent their breeders to the fullest, maximize royalty incomes and promote the plants in a way that attracts attention and retains growers and consumers.

Today, Plants Nouveau represents more than 45 breeders and more than 380 new plant introductions!

Each plant tells a story...

I manage the annuals, perennials, and grasses as well as the website, marketing, photography, and social media at Plants Nouveau.

My career has spanned almost every aspect of gardening, garden design, and teaching folks how to garden with plants – all plants.

I have a degree in horticulture and landscape design and have always had a passion for selecting new plants that grow well and perform for today's grower and consumer.

Each plant is a new project...

I manage the woody ornamentals, trees, tropicals, and the financials at Plants Nouveau.

I began my horticulture career in Mobile, Alabama where for 12 years I managed Magnolia Nursery, a 330-acre estate with an extensive plant assortment particularly suited for the Gulf Coast region. The nursery was developed to support the owner’s insatiable plant collecting habit.

It was there where I developed my love for the native flora of the Deep South.
