Clematis Sugar-Sweet™ Lilac

Sweet honeysuckle perfume!

We are so excited to be represnting a line of beautiful, wilt resistant clematis from expert breeder Ton Hannink in The Netherlands. Ton has combined superior traits of the popular named varieties with wilt resistant and even fragrant traits of some of the species he's been collecting and evaluating from far-reaching parts of Asia and even Croatia. Ton's knowledge of Clematis has allowed him to develop new selections with traits never seen before on the market.

Sugar-Sweet Lilac is one of the first flat, scented clematis ever produced in cultivation. Sweet honeysuckle perfume surrounds each violet-pink bloom throughout the growing season as it climbs 6-9 feet tall.  As blooms mature, a lilac stripe appears in the center of each petal, giving the blooms dimension. This incredibly hardy, wilt resistant beauty blooms from April to June in most gardens. One of our clematis friends, Deborah Hardwick, a long time member of the Clematis Society, made this comment about the frangrance: "A lemony sweet fresh fragrance with a back note of vanilla. Very sweet and pure but not cloying. Divine!"
