Metasequoia glyptostroboides Urban Spire

A super columnar version, perfect for urban spaces.

Some plants were born to make a statement. This new columnar dawn redwood found by our friends at Sam Brown’s Nursery in Malvern, PA ,does just that. Upright and quick growing, this could be the next best tree for urban spaces. It is a true spire and will fit well into smaller, urban spaces, make the perfect tree for city street tree plantings and even small home gardens, and boulevards.

Urban Spire will also serve as an exclamation point in the back of any garden border or open garden space. Since dawn redwoods are so tolerant of extreme soils, we think this new selection will help designers and homeowners have a fantastic new tree for properties with poorly drained, new construction soil, or spots where the soil can be wet in the spring and then extremely dry in the summer. This is one versatile tree.
