Angela and Linda’s Garden Notes:
Through innovation with the University of Ghent and a strong commitment to quality, and ease of growing, many new varieties have been bred and will be sold worldwide. The goal at Het Wilgenbroek is to offer a true seed strain by color and type of their H. orientalis selections. Thierry van Paemal and his staff have been working for ten years to select seedlings and then group them into type and color ranges. Each year they rogue out plants that do not fit the selected type and collect seed from plants that do fit, strengthening their seed strain lines.
After ten years of selecting and collecting seed, we are happy to be finally offering the Winter Magic™ strain of hand selected Helleborous orientalis to growers all over the world. Not only are these strains true to their descriptions, but they germinate and fill a 72 cell liner in less than one year, making production much shorter and sales much cheaper than other seed strains on the market.
