Echinacea purpurea 'Pink Double Delight' comes to us from the AB-Cultivars breeding program in the Netherlands. We are proud to introduce this new selection with its shorter habit and numerous pink, fully double pompon-like flowers. The plant is well branched and very floriferous, producing many straight and sturdy flower stems. The plant reaches a maximum height of about 24''. Flowering starts in July and continues for 8 to 12 weeks. The cone consists of ray petals, instead of traditional pales, that are shorter than the lower ray petals. Like most E. purpurea the cone develops from the bottom up, until all ray petals have developed, producing a full, pompon-like bloom. Deadheading is recommended.
Removing the spent blooms may extend the flowering period and give the plant a neater look. Stay tuned for more new introductions from Plants Nouveau in the coming weeks... |
